Last week we went to Cherokee, North Carolina on a camping trip. Our vacation was supposed to be spent at the beach, but due to the oil spill we had to change our plans. So, we opted for going camping. It's been a few years since we've been camping and Drennan didn't remember much about our last trip. They were so excited about this one.
I'm probably going to make about three blog posts from our trip to get in all the different pictures we took.
There was a little creek running along behind our campsite and the boys had lots of fun catching crawdads.

Thank goodness we were able to take the kids' bikes. They rode and rode all around the campground. Micah is now riding without his training wheels and a campground is a great place to get in a lot of practice.
We also spent a lot of time just sitting around the campfire.
Lila is talking with Grandma Lila here.

I had to get a picture of this. My Uncle Eddie and Aunt Tina came along for a couple of days and they rode in this truck that Eddie built. The interesting thing about it is it doesn't have side windows OR windshield wipers. Anyone who's ever been camping in Cherokee knows it rains a lot. So, Uncle Eddie made a makeshift garage for his truck. Worked out great for keeping our chairs and such dry as well.
My Dad was sick the day we arrived and had to get medicine. Jude and I were both sick as well and had to get medicine the second day. We are all better now, but the beginning of the week was rough for some of us.
Even with all the rain, the sickness, and the exhaustion (from sleeping in a tent), we had a lot of fun and definitely made lasting memories.
On Wednesday Tad, the kids, and I made a side trip to Sylva to visit some family/friends. I'll try and post the pictures from that day tomorrow.
Glad you had a good time. No Black bears to run from. Happy you're all home safe-and-sound.
