Drennan asked that if local schools were closed today for snow then would we do school. I said "absolutely and if Daddy is off work he can help so we'll have 2 teachers." Drennan said Tad could be my paraprofessional. I liked that idea. :)

So before we could go out to play in the snow, we had to finish our bookwork.

You'll notice the teapot on the table that Tad always has ready to pour hot tea for everybody. The kids love it.

Aerial view of the kids hard at work. They are kept warm by our newly installed wood stove.

Tad is super proud of the wood stove. He grew up chopping wood for heat and he loves it. It really keeps the room toasty warm too.

After school, we bundled up everyone to go outside. Last year I didn't get to go out much in the snow because Jude was an infant. This year we just bundled him up too.

He wasn't so sure of it all. It nearly swallowed him up too. :)

The snow is so deep that they had a hard time sledding.

One last picture before we went inside. Jude was definitely ready to go in by now. Lila's poor little feet were frozen.

She ran straight to the wood stove and held her red toes up to it to warm them. So nice to have warm heat!!

Tad stayed out with the boys for a while longer.

I love snow!

Most Friday nights we try to have our Family Movie Night, which basically means we watch a movie together, have popcorn, and SOMETIMES we all sleep downstairs. The kids LOVE sleeping downstairs on the floor. Tad and I...not so much.

I managed to get a picture of them all piled together on the couch watching the movie on Friday.
Good times.

I'm pausing just long enough from wiping runny noses and doing school to post. Jude and Lila both have ear infections right now, Micah has a cough, I've had a cold since Christmas day and it's just January 6. Winter still has a while to go.

With snow in the forecast off and on for the next week, we aren't going to be upset over having to stay in. Apart from soccer and church I'm trying to keep Jude and Lila in as much as possible so they can rest and fight off their bad colds. Lots of vitamin C is being taken, hot tea is being consumed, vaporizers are running, and hands are chapped from being washed so much. Hopefully the kids will feel better soon and we can enjoy the snow that is yet to come.

In the meantime, I must take a Clorox wipe to the keyboard, make some hot tea, wipe some more runny noses, finish what school we can do, and maybe settle in for a kids movie. Ahh, don't cha just love winter!
