Last Saturday we visited the Tellus Science Museum. It was a little drive for us, but it was worth it. There was a little bit of everything in this museum...and even in the parking lot. Jude was pretty amazed by all the heavy equipment sitting in the parking lot.

We saw lots of fossils.

I'm guessing Tad told Micah to make an afraid face. :)

I can't remember the name of the prehistoric shark this mouth belonged to, but of course Micah was all over it. I think the teeth were real and people recreated the mouth part.

If you look closely you'll notice Jude is wearing an animal backpack. It's actually sort of a harness for kids, with a leash. When I was a kid I used to feel so bad for other kids I saw if they were wearing one of these.....then I had Jude.

Halfway through the museum was a room where you could pan for gems. The kids loved this.

They each got a little plastic bag and they were allowed to keep whatever gems they found.

In the next room you could dig for fossils. There were actually bins you could dig around in and find shark teeth, alligator teeth, and other fossils. You were able to keep one. Then they had a large area set up like a sand box, but instead of sand it was filled with teeny tiny rocks. Great for little kids.

I'm so glad we went to the Tellus Museum. It was a lot of fun (and educational!). The kids have already asked to go back.
